E-board Meeting Update

This evening we discussed upcoming events and projects that we'll finish this semester with.

1) Stress reliever party for finals - Thursday, December 4th
  • We're in the process of thinking up a catchy name so we'll call it "Stress Reliever Party for Finals" for now. This will be Thursday, December 4th at 6 p.m. in the Visitors Center basement (depending on availability).
  • Please bring a $5 (or less) gift to exchange...or steal! Bring anything that helps you through finals - chocolate, Red Bull, Starbucks, whatever! Please make sure the gift is legal...and appropriate. Enough said!
  • FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED!! (Should I have put this at the first bullet? lol)

2) Christmas cards

  • We'll be decorating/writing Christmas cards on Thursday, December 4th for a local nursing home. Yes, this is the same night as our finals party. We'll decorate the cards and then exchange gifts!
  • Bring supplies!! Markers, glitter, other decorative paraphernalia...

3) Stephens 175th birthday wrap-up celebration!

  • This event is December 12th from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • It'll be a campus-wide event that includes wagon rides, theatre and dance performances, hot chocolate and MORE!
  • PRSSA will be assisting with setup on December 11th and other tasks on the 12th. Please e-mail Amanda your final schedules so we can get a plan together for those days!

That's it for tonight! Have a wonderful Turkey Day!!

Be a pack rat?!

I always make fun of my mom for being a pack rat. She saves everything and it clutters up our basement so I never wanted to be one and I tend to throw things away.

While attending the PRSA Fall Institute there was a presentation about portfolios. I then heard these words, "Be a pack rat! Save everything!" I kind of starting laughing to myself because why would being a pack rat help with your portfolio? The presenter then went on to discuss  how you should save everything that you write because it can all go into your portfolio, even the papers that your professor has put their red ink on. You can even use that article that was printed in  your school newspaper that you cut out (just make sure that you cut it with straight edges before putting it into your portfolio).

I encourage all of you to save and back up all of your writings, cut out those news articles, be proud of what you've accomplished and be a pack rat! It will benefit you in the end and will impress those future employers!
